Dr. Caroline Mwendwa. Doctor, Blogger, Youth Development Professional and Founder – YAMS Kenya
Dr. Caroline Mwendwa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from United States International University-Africa and a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Nairobi.She is currently enrolled for a Master’s of Science Degree in Youth Development at Kansas State University.
Dr. Mwendwa has worked as a Medical Officer in Kisii Level 5 Hospital for 1 year (Public Institution) as well as The Nairobi Hospital (Private Institution) for 5 years and administrator at a private health facility for 4 years.
A strict educationalist, Dr. Mwendwa has great interest in working with children and the youth and encourages them to raise their own standards despite their living circumstances in order to achieve personal greatness. She has presented at various Institutions like Limuru Girl’s High School, Itaava Primary School, St. Mary’s Secondary School-Itaava, Nyumbani Children’s home and is a mentor with the Akili Dada Organization.
She was a member, Vice-Chair and then Chair of Partnership for Growth Foundation. A foundation that helped build and stock a community Library in the semi-arid area of Makueni County with the assistance of Kianda foundation and Safaricom foundation. Dr. Mwendwa was invited to serve on the Board of Management of St. Mary’s Secondary School-Itaava in 2013.
Her burning passion to educate the masses on different aspects of health has led her to participate in different educative forum like; Waumini Doctor (Radio Waumini), The Patricia Show, Inspire magazine (Nairobi Baptist Church), Medic10 blog as well as give medical talks in various companies and Institutions.
In 2014, Dr. Mwendwa established the YAMS program to encourage and recognize “Young Achiever from Marginalized Societies.” https://yamskenya.wordpress.com. The aim of the program is to help the Children and Youth of Itaava in Makueni set higher personal standards and to strive to achieve them.
